Gaming officials say market stagnant

The state Gaming Control Board recommended approval of a slew of new licenses today from an all-star list of Southern Nevada’s biggest casino companies. In the process, regulators checked the pulse of the state’s dominant industry, finding it to be stagnant but improving.

Struggling Reno casino comes up with cash to avoid closure

The struggling Siena Hotel Spa Casino in downtown Reno has cleared the first hurdle to remain open, at least through the busy July 4th holiday weekend. Dennis Neilander, chairman of the Nevada Gaming Control Board, said the resort posted a $230,000 bankroll by a 5 p.m. Friday deadline.

Nevada casino winnings decrease slightly in March

Regulators say Nevada casinos won a little more than $912 million in March, a slight decline compared with the same month a year ago. The state Gaming Control Board reported Tuesday that Nevada casino winnings were down less than 1 percent year-to-year.

Gaming execs: Las Vegas business showing signs of improvement

Operators of Las Vegas’ Hard Rock Hotel say the free fall on hotel rates has ended in other properties run by the Morgans Hotel Group in other cities and a similar pattern is emerging in Las Vegas. Frederick Kleisner, CEO and a director for New York-based Morgans, told the state Gaming Control Board today that the company has seen a pattern of event-driven demand.
