The struggling Siena Hotel Spa Casino in downtown Reno has cleared the first hurdle to remain open, at least through the busy July 4th holiday weekend. Dennis Neilander, chairman of the Nevada Gaming Control Board, said the resort posted a $230,000 bankroll by a 5 p.m. Friday deadline.

Casino regulators say Nevada casinos won 3.2 percent less in January than they did in the same month a year ago.
But there is a bright spot in a monthly report released Monday by the Nevada Gaming Control Board.

Nevada casino revenues plunged 10.4 percent in the 2009 calendar year, when casinos reported a total gambling win of $10.4 billion. A report by the Nevada Gaming Control Board released Thursday shows last year’s steep decline followed a 9.7 percent drop in 2008. For December, casinos statewide reported a win of $859.3 million, down 3.2 percent.
