Online Slot Tournaments: How to play

Posted on 27 May 2010 by admin

Online slot tournaments are becoming increasingly popular. They are fun to play and offer an element of competition since you are playing against the other participants. Tournaments also offer long play times and the opportunity for a large payout with a set price to buy in.

Slot tournaments can either require a fee or “buy in” or be a freeroll tournament. Freeroll is Online casino jargon for a free tournament. Free slot tournaments are used to bring in new real money players. The free slot tournaments usually require participants to sign up at an online casino. Around holidays you will often find freeroll tournaments that have large payouts. There are also online casinos that offer smaller weekly freeroll tournaments. The tournament itself will not cost you any money, but you will need to provide accurate contact information to play.

Each tournament will have its own set of rules but generally, there is a fee or “buy in” required. For this fee you will either receive a set number of credits or a set amount of time to play. Each participant receives the same amount of time or credits. These credits can then be used for spins on designated slot machines. In time limit tournaments you will want to make sure to get as many spins as possible. The goal is to end up with the largest amount of winnings.

Most tournaments use play money. It cannot be exchanged for cash when you are finished. The advantage of play money is that all you stand to lose is your entry fee. Every player has the chances of winning at the beginning of the tournament. No one will start with a larger stack than anyone else. The disadvantage of this system is that jackpots do not pay off in cash. If you hit a progressive during a tournament the maximum that you will receive is the tournament top prize.

Online slot tournaments generally do not require all players to start at the same time. There is usually a set amount of time that you will have to play. This time starts when you choose. The object of the game is to end with more credits than any other participant. You are allowed to stop playing at any time. Most tournaments have a leader board so you may decide to stop if you become the leader.

Familiarize yourself with the rules of the particular slot tournament than you are playing in. Although the actual play will be similar, the payout and re-buy systems may be different. Some online slot tournaments will allow you to re-buy credits after you have used your initial credits. This is important to know if you are on the leader board and expect to be paid out. Each tournament also decides how it will determine the winner. In some slot tournaments, the player with the most credits at the end of the established time period wins. Other tournaments have a playoff with a predetermined number of finalists.

Online slot tournaments give you the opportunity for large payouts for a relatively small investment, and a long playing time for a relatively small investment. It is a great way to get into online gambling without investing too much money right off the bat.

Sitngo Poker Tournament. What Is It?

Posted on 25 May 2010 by admin

Sit N Go poker is one type of online poker tournament that has gained great popularity over the last year. You will see this type of tournament at almost every poker playing site as Sit N GO, SNG, Sng or SitNGo.

This type of tournament is, almost always a single table tournament (STT) that has no given starting time. It begins when the table has enough people signed up to play (usually 9 or 10).

Sit N Go’s are usually Texas Hold’em poker tournaments, but can be a variety of poker games.

The cost to play these tournaments can be as low as $1.00 and range up to hundreds of dollars. It is easy to see why it has gained popularity since you can entertain yourself for as little as $1.00 for an hour or more (that is, if you are still in the game until the end).

Sit N Go Tournaments are NOT cash games where you buy an amount of chips and play, they are true tournaments where each player buys in (say for a dollar) and is given a stack of chips (usually worth 1,000 to 1,500). All players start with the same amount of chips and play until they no longer have chips, or win the game with all of the chips from the table. The game usually pays out the top three players (“last three standing”). The pay out is usually 50% to the winner, 30% to second place and 20% to third. There are poker sites to play these tournaments where they pay out more than 3 places, but the payout for each is obviously less.

There are strategies to winning or placing “in the money” in Sit N Go’s that you can follow to help you become a consistent winner.

The 2010 Venetian Deep Stack Extravaganza ? a Notable Poker Tournament Series Found Only in Las Vegas

Posted on 18 May 2010 by admin

As a poker player, there are certain times throughout the year that I look forward to escaping my daily routine in the Midwest for a couple weeks and heading out to sunny Las Vegas to take part in what I refer to as a poker tournament marathon.  Obviously, any time between May and July is great with the World Series of Poker going on at the Rio.  But there is another Las Vegas poker tournament series that originated in 2007 and continues to grow madly in popularity among poker players.  I am referring to the Venetian Deep Stack Extravaganza, which continues its successful run in 2010, beginning January 29th and stretching almost the entire month of February, when it concludes the series with a three day main event beginning on February 23rd. My hope was to find some alternative medium stakes buy-in tournaments nearby to fill my time.

I was recently contacted on Facebook by a website called Las Vegas Poker Source. They claim their website is dedicated to the latest and best information for poker tournaments and poker cash games in Las Vegas.  I decided to check out what they had to offer.  I was impressed to find an easy to navigate platform with very organized details on every poker room and poker tournament in Las Vegas. Las Vegas Poker Source also offers several social media options that players can join for free to receive updates, news headlines and even poker tournament alerts.  They have a training section where poker players can contact professional poker players and a “blogroll,” which is a list of links to interesting poker blogs, such as Pokerati, Tao of Poker, David “The Maven” Chicotsky (2008 Bluff Online Player of the Year) and many more.

Due to my visit to Las Vegas Poker Source, I was able to find some “back up” poker tournaments for the days that the Venetian Deep Stack events don’t match my personal agenda or if, heaven forbid, I bust out of an event early!  It looks like I will also be able to visit LasVegasPokerSource.com to fulfill my poker cash game needs as well, as they contain a section that will soon guide poker players to the most action filled poker rooms in Las Vegas.

For now, I anxiously await my trip in January.  I arrive a couple days before I plan to take part in any major poker tournament for the chief purpose of playing a few rounds of satellites.  Venetian offers single table satellites into all the events, every day of the week beginning at 8am and continuing through 2am.  They also have Super Satellites into the championship event on Monday February 22nd at noon, 4pm and 8pm.

If I can recommend any Las Vegas poker tournament series to the serious poker players out there, Venetian Deep Stack Extravaganza is the way to go.  If you can’t catch this one, they will run the series three more times throughout 2010, with the next one coinciding with the World Series of Poker during the summer.  Head out to Las Vegas and take your shot at prize pools totaling in the millions of dollars, play in one of the arguably nicest poker rooms in the city and compete against a quality field of leading poker professionals, local grinders and poker travelers like myself.  Best of luck on the tables!
